For breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, we always looked forward to this spicy, warm concoction with honey and fresh lemon wedges.
Like pairing a fine wine, this healthy drink was the perfect beverage to accompany our fresh, organic vegetarian meals.
Our yoga class requested the recipe of this fondly remembered tea months after we’d graduated from Yoga Teachers’ Training. Happily shared in our Whatsapp group.
Kaivalyadham Yogi Herbal Tea
This is the potent herbal tea served breakfast, lunch, tea time and dinner at Kaivalyadham Yoga and Ayurvedic Center.

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Fresh ginger grated
- 2-3 leaves Fresh Lemongrass leaves Nimbu Ghans
- 3-4 leaves Tulsi Basil leaves Ocimum tenuiflorum,
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper freshly ground
- 2 cups Water
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a sauce pan, bring to boil and simmer until reduced by about half volume.
- Strain; add sweetener and a squeeze of lemon to taste if desired.
Notes
We were always served jaggery or honey to use as a sweetener.
