Pan-fried Paneer Burgers

Paneer is marinated in Indian spices and pan-fried in ghee

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Chaat Masala
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan pink salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper Freshly ground
  • 2 tsp lemon juice Fresh squeezed
  • 2 tbsp Plain yogurt Or fresh milk, or water, enough to make a paste.
  • 200 grams Paneer
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • 2 oz Cheese slices American cheese slices

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients into a paste (except ghee and paneer)

  • Cut paneer into burger size and marinate for at least 15 minutes

  • Heat ghee in a fry pan; when hot, add the marinated paneer slicees and cook until gollden brown on each side. Careeful not to burn.

  • Just before removing, if you would like, add some slliced cheese and cover to melt the cheese.

  • Serve on toasted burger buns with all the usual accouterments, or, as I did, serve on a bed of steamed broccoli.

Notes

Deciding to cut back just a little bit on carbs, I tried this paneer burger on a bed of steamed broccoli.
Not quite as seductive as between a burger bun slathered with ketchup and mayonnaise, but very good and would definitely have this again.
